Articular cartilage is formed by collagen fibers, which are immersed in the base mass formed by amino sugars (e.g. glucosamine). Collagen is also responsible for the skin’s condition and firmness. Collagen protein deficiencies will negatively affect the condition of joint structures, but also cause wrinkles.

Collagen is the most important support protein. The human body weighing about 75 kg contains about 7 kg of collagen. Collagen, as a highly specific protein structure, contains high doses of the following amino acids: glycine, proline, hydroxyproline, hydroxylysine. The production of collagen in the body requires the presence of vitamin C, which is necessary for the transformation of proline and lysine into hydroxyproline and hydroxylysine, building the proper structure of collagen.
