Characteristics
Urea is an organic compound that, when applied topically, can have a moisturizing or keratolytic effect, depending on the concentration of application. The moisturizing effect is achieved when using low concentrations and is due to an increase in water binding sites at the level of the stratum corneum and a decrease in transepidermal water dispersion. The keratogenic and keratolytic effect is achieved instead at higher concentrations (30-50%), and the mechanism of this action appears to be a change in the quaternary structure of the stratum corneum keratin by breaking hydrogen bonds. Thus, urea is able to denature and disperse keratin, as well as thin the stratum corneum, without damaging the skin barrier.
How to use
Apply 1 or 2 times a day after cleaning the treated area. For better and longer-lasting results, it is recommended to use Podoval UR10 moisturizing cream.
